lee's nc30 rebuild
this is the bike... before
after developing an annoying gearbox problem at cadwell i decided to strip the engine for a rebuild but this has led to a full bike rebuild, all the bits that iratate me keep adding up
this is the plan for fairing endurance nose cone, original colours, nc35 seat unit, i want to keep the bike as original as possible but slight upgrades
the engine rebuild is the step as its in bits already, im just waiting for a cheap parts washer to turn up on ebay as the crankcases are a bit scummy
il keep this updated soon as i make another step

RC30 look alike scheme? I like.
Forget the parts washer, get stuck in with some elbow grease and some kerosene (paraffin to you!). An old toothbrush is your friend here!

Re: lee's nc30 rebuild
I'm about the same stage myself.
Behind the primary drive sprocket was just packed with hardened lube and grit. I asked for paraffin myself yesterday and got a funny look. Kerosene? No thank you, I'm British!
You're frame looks nice and clean Lee. What did you use on it?
I'm sure there must be something I can use to get the oxidation off various bits of alloy but every place I ask they just hand over rust converter for steel.
Mine'll be RC30 too but road going.
Keep it going mate.

Re: lee's nc30 rebuild
ive been using allsorts of stuff to clean the frame mainly autoglym engine cleaner and paraffin, ive found that usung autosol metal polish brings up nice but takes time, the swingarm isnt quite as clean as i want it so im thinking of gettin it powdercoated when i get the wheels done,

Re: lee's nc30 rebuild
Much the same myself. I'd thought of polishing the swing arm but it'd be a lot of work.
However, I've just spoken to our painting and sandblasting manager about doing my wheels and he tells me they've got a new soda blaster (here in NZ they say water blaster rather than pressure washer).
That will be ideal for wheels as it's less aggressive than sand blasting but would bring the frame up mint too.
I'll have to wait a week for it to be up and running but it’ll be worth it to get it really clean.
I'd just got the engine back in and loom sorted but I think I'll take it back out again.

Re: lee's nc30 rebuild
got a bit more done today, fitted my spare yokes which i got powdercoated last year, fitted later type forks which are gonna be treated with some R/O upgrade internals soon,
replacd the hub with one out of a spare swingarm because the chain adjuster was chewed up on mine, i fount that the bearings are gona need replacing in the hub, they were both knackered on each hub...............is this a common fault? because both had schorch marks like theyve been gettin hot!
il add some more pics later when i get chance.
