stalling and non starting GK76a

Post by joner1983 » Sun May 10, 2009 9:18 pm

hi i have a 1991 GSXR400 and have very limited knowledge as im a new rider. i have trouble starting it even when bumped. when it (eventually!) starts, it idles and sounds reasonably healthy but as soon as i go to ride it stalls and fails to start again. i had it serviced and carbs cleaned in Nov but has been only started a few times since and petrol may be stale? will redex help? can anyone help with this?? any advise will be gratefully received!! many thanks

Did you replace the dredded O-rings in the carbs? If not then there is your likely problem.

As long as you are able to pull the carb insides apart and put it all back together again (with new O-rings of course) then it is a fairly easy job if you take your time. To be honest the hardest part is usually getting at and removing/re-installing the carbs from the bike.

Hi J,
If the o'rings are from fleebay they are from me, regards bowl gaskets rf600 are the same but about £6 each so i only change em if they leak.
Chris.

Hi Andre,
This is a link to the RF600 kit so you can see if the gasket is the same. Think it is just the bowl and the o'rings altho i sell the o'rings for £11.
