Re: Running rough after running out of petrol
That black stuff could be bits from a degrading filter. Not the air filter but the small ones in little round canisters that are sometimes put on carbs to filter the air above the diaphragms.

Re: Running rough after running out of petrol
Buy some brake/carb cleaner and spray it around the inlet manifolds/carb join/cyl head join to see if the engine picks up. Easiest way to check for an air leak, which will make it run lumpy.
I balanced mine with the el cheapo blue metal economy gauges, and they were good enough.
Once you get it right, it stays sweet for ages.

You can buy a m6 countersunk screw and washer that will do on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M6-Aluminium- ... Sw3ydVgURE
Centre punch and drill the snapped thread out carefully
