zxr 250 clutch and carb questions!

Post by ZXESAS » Thu Jun 13, 2013 11:29 pm

Hi guys my friends zxr 250 a1 model is being restored and we took out the old clutch friction plates and to our surprise we found 2 metal friction plates in between the clutch friction plates!?!? :wtf: was the previous owner trying to achieve? or is the 250 zxr supposed to be like this? and we dissembled the carbs to rebuild them and we found that two of the main jets where 135 and the other 2 main jets where 138? plus modded air box with drilled holes in it and no foam? the bike is OK at high speeds but on low speeds it's absolutely awful! Can anybody help me with this mystery?

Messing with airboxes usually doesn't work. Check on this forum http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?forums/ka ... ine-4s.90/ some of the posters, Kiffsta especially, know a lot about these bikes.

if the two middle jets were a different size to the two outers thats a standard thing to try, you can either run larger middle jets to try and cool down the middle cylinders, or run leaner jets in the middle as they will be hotter than the two outer cylinders so dont need as rich a mixture as the air will be less dense.

no filter in the airbox sounds like someone has tried to make it into a racebike, stick a filter back in, drop the jets down to a more standard size, and adjust the pilots and see if that better.

its an older bike, so will probably need the carbs balancing too.
