Clutch help

Post by ian400 » Wed Sep 28, 2011 7:34 pm

My friend has bought a h model zxr400 track bike, he mentioned the clutch was grabby so I had a look, basically there was about 1mm of free play before the clutch engaged, all adjusters were fully out so I stripped the clutch to inspect it, there is nothing mechanically wrong so after some trial and error I removed one of the 6 friction plates, now the clutch engages 2 thirds out with adjusters fully in and has a smoother feel, ideally I want it to engage around a third of the lever movement and allow some adjustment, he has a trackday on Saturday and I would like him to enjoy the experience as he is joining me racing next year, can any zxr gurus assist as I'm a Honda man but wanting to learn! the frame is zx400H and the engine is zx400GE Help me
