is it headgasket?

Post by rigsby » Mon Apr 19, 2010 10:41 pm

my mates has got a zxr 400 h1 we recently noticed the oil inspection window was white checked oil and that too is white like thick milk. i presume it is the headgasket but it doesnt seem to be running hot and the coolent system isn't being pressurerised. Anybody got any other ideas ? could water get into the sump via the water pump drive seal etc.
dont fancy doing head gasket so grabbing at straws. its done 26000 k

cheers rigs

zxr's are really bad for misting up if used for short journeys or laid up. If its not blowing water out when thrashed and doesnt re-mist after a thorough oil/filter change it's most likely fine.

however, @26k its bang on cue for the head gasket to go.

not the end of the world though, head gasket is about £12 and its not hard to do on a zxr
