Yes

L Models

Japan 59PS (CVK-D30)
L1/L2/L3/L4/L4A/L5: IN 256 EX 256

UK 65PS (CVK-D32)
L1/L2/L3/L4/L4A/L5: IN 268 EX 265

SP (M) UK Bikes 59PS Japan Bikes are 6PS down but all spec's are the same - CDI retarded ?
M3/M4: IN 280 EX 265

SP(M) All same power at 59PS
M1/M2: IN 280 EX 265

What are you trying to achieve? UK Cams have a higher intake lift than the JDM cams.. combined with the 32mm cvk's on all but the SP they are making 6ps more.

The earliest H's have the highest overall lift but have a weird jetting setup... less 'refined' I think the term is, power delivery is more like a 2-stroker.

Cheers for that, am i right to assume the 1989 J1 is made along with the H1 then H2 along with the J2.
So the H1 and J1 ran 280* inlet giving 105* center, then in 1990 they ran 268* giving 111* center.
UK bikes are as 1990 at 268*
The M's are back at 280* and all run 265* and 105* center exhausts.
Im working on my GSXR4 and as there is little to no info about cam timings im compiling info from the more common bikes.
From the ZXR F3 manual i found they ran 280* in and ex both at 105* centers, F3 NC30 run similar timings at 104* and from the kent cam site the FZR is close at 104.5*, the gsxr is odd at 292* , 100* inlet and 268*, 110* exhaust.
Im sure this is the key to getting more from the engine and allowing valve to piston clearance i will come closer to everyone else. :rocks:

Yep.. there is a lot of over-lap in the ZXR early cams.

The J and M models are also known as the 'SP'

They have adjustable cams as standard, FCR carbs as standard and uprated suspension.. rear shock is fully adjustable with remote resevoir and the front forks are 3-way adjustable.

The ZXR may not have the build quality of the NC30 but having owned one it's the fastest, easiest to work and and easiest to tune bike out of all the 400's i've owned.

Loads of aftermarket parts, many of which still avilable (bike was made until 2003 I think) and the F3 spec bike (which is basically an SP model with some headwork) makes 80PS.. more than any other stock 400.. it's also very cheap to do to a normal ZXR compared with say tuning an NC30 to that spec (still can be pricey but nowhere near the cost)

The bike weighs less too and with the Beet et al TI systems even more weight is lost!

I'm sure you'll get there anyhow :D
