electrics

Post by Alext900 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 12:39 pm

Hi Guys, i am trying to get lighting to work on the RRSP, the switch i have is obvioudly form another model as colours are slightly different to the colours on hte wiring diagram i downloaded from this site.
That said everything works ok (after minor mod to get horn to work) running a live from red / yellow to pink (for my pink read black n white on the wiring diag on the site)

Question regarding lights switches, on the wiring diag it mentions (to right of horn switch) three switches..."lights switch" "pass switch" and dimmer switch, light switch on /off flasher self explanitory and hi/low beam, thing is theres only 2 switches on the switch gear, hi/lo and flash high beam, where is 3rd one!
Can anyone share a pic of the wiring and switches on a 90-94 RRSP for me to refer to ? include switch assy, and wiring for headlight, 9 pin connector / 3 pin connector

oh and while i am at it....the reserve switch.. what does it feed? there is nowt on tank on /off / res for it to actuate....
and nothing showing on fowlers exploded view diagram...just petcock...

Good questions :)

The Pass switch is to flash the headlights to main beam. it's reached using the left index finger and on the front / top of the switch. 3JT switches are colourful, but I can't put a picture in a post .... it's all on photobucket.

Reserve ... well the 3TJ doesn't really have one as such. What happens is when the fuel goes down the sender in the tank dries out, that triggers the signal to the cdi. The cdi cuts the signal to a coil so the engine starts to loose power and stutter, its the same signal that's used for the red line. So when you flick the reserve switch it just resets the cdi.

Alex, if its any help there are 3TJ wiring diagrams on google images. If you are really stuck I can take a couple of pics of pugs etc. on my RRSP. Cheers.

I think it's the switch gear he's talking about.
