Re: Won't start
About a year to completely rebuild it - sounds a lot but for a complete project that's about right. I'm glad it's a possible keeper, now you know why they're liked by their owners. Getting a prize for the bike must make you very happy.
The dragbike sounds like an epic build, keep us up to date with it.
So, about the pictures .....

Evil
what a t@@t I have been I have been adding to the photobucket site all through the build but cleverly omitting to direct anyone to it http://s1057.photobucket.com/user/johnw ... estoration
It's a keeper not a "possible keeper"

Re: Won't start
I have slipped a photo of it into the photobucket link above, that was what it looked like about 6 months ago.hunter wrote:Always nice to have a happy ending,Glad your enjoying it.
So what's the make of drag bike,And what class are you running in.
Ok You asked, its a kawasaki zx750e1 (AKA GP 750 Turbo)
it has:-
Wiseco 810 converstion
1100 Throttle bodies
lock up clutch (built by a very clever man in the USA not the man who built the turbo someone else)
Raask rear sets
bandit rear wheel
JMC swing arm
Purpose built intercooler (took a while that one)
Custom GT25 turbo (clipped etc) purpose built in USA by a very clever man.
Power Comander PC5 controller
Volvo injectors(????)
CFD (Computational Fluid dynamics) designed plenum by some coneheads in a university
High flow rate fuel pump (forgotten the name)
ZX7 forks and front wheel
Bandit rear brake
Ohlins rear shock
Custom built oil cooler
racemode enabled (a kawasaki secret that gets more bhp from the standard bike)
Will Have;-
Electronic turbo control
balanced crank
enlarged exhaust valves
fully flowed head to accomodate 1100 TBs
endless timeserts
full data logger
a few cameras
strengthened, lightened and balanced con rods
Instrumentation to actively log all parameters
Salt tyres ( yes you get tyres specially cut)
a few spurious gauges that make us look like Prof Pat Pending
and 1000's of custom made brackets (its what i do every weekend, make F@@king brackets)
As for the class we are running in, and Roland will correct me if i get this wrong, is :-
Modified production, pump gas, sub1000cc, non-streamlining (Roland help?) I think.
Well you asked!

Re: Won't start

Re: Won't start
Sorry if I gave that impression, we are actually building it in Chalford, Gloucestershire. The clutch and the turbo were built in the states only because the guys that built them were recommended. Everything else, with the exception of the Raask rearsets, Is made in the UK. We have some fantastic engineers, designers and machine shops here in the UK. So in 2017 we will crate the whole lot up and send it to Utah.hunter wrote:It sounds pretty impressive,I take it the bike is being built in the states.
Sorry for the confusion.

Hello chaps
Haven't been around for a while but can report that the 400 is going well. Not been out on it as much as I would like this year but when I have, I have not been disappointed.

Re: Won't start
Managed to get the 400greybike.com website a few mentions in this months CMM article on this build.
My real name is John Woods and the article reads pretty well with some great photos by Joe Dicks.
Roland Jones gets a mention or too as well.
