Re: R6 rear tail piece
Don't know if it's any help as mine is a race bike but I'm in the middle of fitting a TZ seat unit. So far I've had to take out the original seat mounts and do a little trimming at the front of the seat unit around the tank cover.
I'd imagine a 5EB seat unit would be easiest, the bulge would be ideal for the expansion reservoir to hide in.

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Re: R6 rear tail piece
if you don't keep the r6 seat.you will have a big empty void that will need filling. if you keep the seat it will probably go, but it's a big seat! on the 3tj the subframe hangs below the seat i think, the 3en is a different shape, but might still need cutting for it to fit.
the rear will always look out of place if you change it as the bike is 20+years old.

Why not use a fzr 600 race seat.

I wish I had on mine instead of the TZ one, it would have been pretty much a straight fit

Re: R6 rear tail piece
The TZ seat unit is a bit narrow at the front so I've had to do a bit of trimming
