I have a 1984 Yamaha FZ 400 R as per the link below (I don't know how to post pictures?)

https://global.yamaha-motor.com/showroo ... index.html

Anyone any idea what air filter it takes? I'v emailed hiflo to see if they know, comes up with nothing on there site or wemoto. Wemoto does list an air filter for the xj400z which has the same engine but nothing for mine which makes me think it will be different.

Also there are 2 tubes off the back of the carbs that just sit under the tank with no obvious place to connect them to. Are these just overflow/ vent lines? I would post a picture if i knew how! Cheers

The part number for the filter is 46X-14451-00. CMS has 2 left, you may want to grab both.Expensive but soon NLA.

Thanks mate. Actually just checked myself in a parts book I've got and came up with the same number. Luckily there is a hiflo equivalent hfa4605 which should be much cheaper!

I think the two hoses from the carb balance the pressure inside - they don't connect to anything

Yeah there doesn't look like there's anything obvious for them to connect to.
You think it's best leaving them laying under the tank or should they be routed downwards like a conventional overflow would be.

As long as they can breath and aren't blocked you'll be Ok either way

Cool - it's a milestone once a bike runs.
