replacement 3TJ top fairing options?

Post by speedblockrr » Wed Jul 12, 2017 11:22 am

G'day race fans. My recently aquired 3tj's top fairing is busted to say the least. An Australian ebay seller makes a fiberglass top fairing for $275 kangaroo dollars. I contacted the seller to ask if the headlight mounting bolts are moulded into the fairing. His reply was that they are not and the fairing is made from a mould taken from the outside of fairing.
I am thinking if i go this option i may either attatch headlight bolts to the inside of fairing with the aid of a fiberglass repair kit i have or drill holes from the outside to use flat head screws through the fairing and headlight and bracket.
I have spent some time searching the net for another option but haven't come up with anything. Any thoughts or other options on this gents??

I take you're in Australia then ?
You could try your luck with plastex and try sticking it back together and moulding anything missing ... you can get quite good results if you're handy with a palm sander.

Maybe try this Chinese bodywork company. I don't know of anybody whos fitted one up yet. You'd have to drill the holes and it might take a day but it could be a way around your problem.
