3TJ M Max box.

Post by 1966baz » Sun Jan 15, 2017 9:10 am

Just having a breather from the very time consuming RRSP project. Have seen an M MAX box for sale and wondering if there would be any advantage in fitting one to my 3tj. My 3TJ does 130mph as it is so maybe derestricted anyway. Were the restricted ones governed to 112mph? If that is the case and mine doesn't have a 4DX CDI. or M max box it is doing well.Cheers.

They're suposed to be restricted to 112 mph ... that's 180kmh, but in practice they're not. My RR would go a little higher but not 130mph. So, do you need to go any faster, given that you won't hit the restriction on the road and it might be Ok to not hold it wide open on a track for any length of time - I'd say you're probably Ok :peace:

If you already have a gold Kph to Mph converter on the speedo drive that will act as a derestrictor.

By slowing the rotation of the speedo cable the speedometer and restriction gubbins are fooled into thinking the bike is going slower than it really is.

Do you have a gold reduction drive fitted to the drive cable down by the front spindle?

Thanks, chaps, no I don't need anymore speed, very happy with it. Just enquiring really .No I don't have a gold reduction drive on it. I do have one on my TZR 250 3xv which will do about 120 mph , so up about 8mph. Cheers.
