Fzr400 1wg Genesis 1986 speed restriction
Hoping I can get a bit off info regarding any restriction of speed or horsepower on the 1986 1wg Genesis , it's a American import with the 55mph warning light , is this also a speed restricter and if so how do you bypass it as it's going to be raced , any help would be much appreciated

There were no speed restrictions until 1987, Boris is the expert on the history of the inception of this in Japan.
Your bike is a Japanese home market bike that got to USA somehow.
Are you thinking that because USA has a 55 speed limit it is a Yanky job...if so , it is not .
I'm pretty sure it is a 100kph trigger anyhow.
The US/Canada bikes had no speed warning light.
The warning light was only fitted to the Japanese home market machines to comply with their laws at that time.
The law must have been altered somewhat later as that is why a top speed restriction became mandatory post 1987.
Manufacturers rated power output is 59ps/12000 rpm.
Abridged version..No restriction...Discard speedo...Race at drop of flag.

Re: Fzr400 1wg Genesis 1986 speed restriction
Yes the restructions came in on the 1988 FZR400R 3en1. Theres a trigger in the speedo that limits the top speed to 180kmh (112mph) which isn't really a problem on the road.
If yours is an 86 model it's a Genesis, nice enogh bike but not the best fzr to go racing on. Check the rules for the series and see if you can use a find a better base to start with.

You can easily and reasonable cheaply upgrade a Genesis.....bit by bit ...one step at a time....Rome wasn't built in a day.
You can use the 600 race glass which is cheap when your bodywork gets past the duct tape repair stage.
600R front end is an easy swap...better forks and brakes..A member on here fits Trx S/Arms for the 17" rear wheel.
Like I say...bit by bit.
First get good then get fast...(rider)
Good luck.
