I have Metzler Sportec M3s on my Spec 2 and I can't wait to wear them out! They were on the bike when I got it an I've covered about 5000km with not much sign of any wear, so they seem to be pretty hard wearing. BUT I have absolutely no confidence in the tyres at all. I've had the front one break free several times for no reason on a very mild lean, and the back one can spin any time under any amount of throttle. It might be the road surface here in Cambodia, but based on my experience so far there is no way I would take a bike round a track that had these tyres on it. Probably a good choice if you are just looking for something long wearing, but a no-no for any vaguely spirited riding!

Yes, AVOID! utter rubbish
I've changed to the bigger size of the later bikes and fitted Continental Sport Attacks, bloody brilliant!

I'm running Pilot Road 3s on my V-tec... their wet weather performance - not to mention their all rounder performance - still surprises me.

I fitted a pair of Continental Conti motion sports touring tyres a couple of weeks ago. They were 120/ 60 17 front and 150/60 17 rear. The front I already in the shed had been due to go on an SV650 . I also had a 160/60 but was a bit unsure about clearance if I used it, hence the 150. As it happens I now think it will go on comfortably so will keep for next time. The bike handles very nicely on this size combination and are more than capable for the power available . They should last well and are cheaper than most other major manufacturers. The 150/60 was £68 delivered, I fit them myself.

I'm using Spannish Michelin PR4's on my VTEC. When new the rear stepped out on a roundabout (Diesel?) but have been very good since. I did notice the ride quality was very good and less harsh than the old tyres.
I've had AM26's in the past and were a very long life tyre. I don't ride at 100% so had no problem with them at all.
Avon have a new tyre for 2017 the Spirit ST in sizes to fit the VTEC, not sure about older models?
