Wont tick over properly
Hi
New member here. (just got my nc 23)
My problem is.....It will tick over but rises from 1000 to 3000 then falls to 1000 the back to 3000 continuously !
I have cleaned the carbs, jets etc BUT Im confused re the jet sizes ? according to the engine number (NC23E 1035719) it is the "J" model BUT the jets in the carbs are 35's ? not 40's. these I believe were the jets from the Nc29 CARBS, i DONT KNOW IF THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL CARBS.
ARE THE PILOT SCREWS TWO AND A QUARTER OR TWO AND A HALF TURNS OUT ?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanx

You're right with the jet sizes j is 40 , kis 35. Haynes says 2.5 turns out for pilots!
Perhaps the carbs need balancing?

Re: Wont tick over properly
Thanks for that. Ill try 2.5 turns rather than 2.25 and Ill balance the carbs
I have a two gauge set so I think its 1+ 2 then 3+4 then 2+3 should do it.
cant wait till shes all done. will be more fun round the twisties than my 186bhp Blackbird I think lol

Re: Wont tick over properly
So after having the carbs off AGAIN AND AGAIN !!
It now ticks over at 1000 rpm, steady as a rock ! carbs balanced, 2.5 turns out on the mixture.
its actually smoother than my blackbird !! (injection)
