My last nc29 had over 100,000km on it. When I got it it had no clocks or bodywork so I just stuck the clocks on it I got from eBay . But the previous owner got in touch and said it had 70,000 when he sold it 10yrs ago. 8-)

Ahh that is great! I hate it when many bike owners say that a 50000 miles motorcycle is high mileage.

I'm already approaching half away across 26000 Mil/km. I am using the bike everyday at the moment...I will do my best to take care of it and change the oil and filter regularly....but it must do 100k without any engine rebuild. I may have to adjust the valves (send it to a shop to do maybe)

I've replace plug caps,leads,plugs....had the carbs ultrasonically cleaned and new mixture screw o-rings...checked coils for resistance and both within spec.checked the pick up coil and that's all good. Checked the battery and charging system.

What the hell is going on? I've had the carbs off about 30 times. The only thing I found wrong was the two plug caps for 2 and 3 were duff.

Any thoughts? Would a dodgy ECU give any symptoms? Or perhaps a speed limiter fault?
Are all floats shutting off ok, float heights ok? Needle valves ok?

Yeah all check out, it seems to have gone badly out of sync ,so that number 4 cylinder was running really rich and fouling the plug.
I've synced them with vacuum gauges now, and it seems better. Took ages as one of the vacuum take offs was blocked, messing up the readings.

Finally sorted out the running problems by installing a new set of pilot jets.

Yeah, fingers crossed. It’s still a little out but I think that could be down to the pipe and sp engineering can. A little more tinkering with washers on the needle should sort it but it’s a bit bloody cold in my garage at the moment 😁
