Chinese fairing group buy to save on shipping

Post by Adrian89 » Sat Jan 21, 2012 9:59 pm

Hi,

I have noticed recently that a lot of people have been buying the Chinese fairing kits, and basically its the postage price that puts me off.

I am pretty sure that the postage for say 5 kits won't cost a great deal more than the postage for 2 and if a larger order was placed a discount for the kits themselves could be established. So a group buy could potentially save money for the kits, and money on the shipping.

Has anyone investigated this at all in the past? I would be up for ordering a kit, and know of a couple of other people who would too if the price was a bit less on the shipping.

If you are interested in this or have any thoughts I'd like to hear them.

Cheers

Adrian

fookin massive and very well packed. you then goto to distrubute when in the UK, and also have more risk of getting boned by customs.

Yeah i dont see them doing them any cheaper to be honest, plus the £150 postage covers insurance for it to get to you, and yeah the box is huge, i have had 2 lots of fairings from the same company "gtbidshop" on ebay and both sets i paid £300 for that was £150 for fairings and £150 for shipping.

Plus trying to get a response out of any of the companies that sell them is hard enough, i emailed quite a few of them with general inquiries for the fairings and never got a reply back.

Your best bet is to just bite the bullet and pay what they cost, if you want to see what we mean by the size of the box i will take a picture and put it up as i only got a new set of fairings last week.

Hmm ok, well if anyone is interested in me investigating this give me a pm, I have received many pallets worth of fairings at work from Thailand and there is no way it costs £150 per individual bikes worth of fairings. I'm talking the last order was for 13 huge touring bikes worth of fairings.

If you can get 3EN1 race fairings, count me in
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Most sellers on ebay who sell low profit margin items bump up the price of postage to compensate for a lower sale price. Why? You don't pay sellers fees on shipping costs.

The postage price covers insurance also. This sounds like a lot of hassle to me to save 50 quid, especially further distributing them to buyers from a single UK address.

he got back to me with 5% off for 5 kits or more, with a bit of haggling it might be possible to push that up to 10% but I dont know.

Cheers
