A Potted History Of The NC29 At The Isle Of Man
I have nothing to do at work today so skimmed through the IOM TT results to see if my beloved bike model got anywhere in the 400cc class back in the day.
This is what I found. I have tried to be correct with cross referencing but if you think im wrong, let me know.
Between 1992 and 1997 the Supersport 400/Lightweight TT race winners were mainly dominated by the mighty Yam FZR400 unless Joey Dunlop was racing, in which he tended to win. There were CBR400s in the race but nothing of note in the standings and i cant tell if they were NC29s, so im sorry if I missed some.
Then in 1998 Paul Williams on an NC29 came 7th, in the renamed Lightweight TT.
In 1999 the NC29 ridden by Paul Williams got its first Lightweight TT 1st place win.
In 2000 the Lightweight TT was won by a FZR but this was stripped of its title as it was found to have a 600cc engine. So 2nd place was awarded the winning title of No1, it was awarded to Brett Richmond on an NC29.
In 2001 the TT was abandened due to foot and mouth. The cow won and some sadly lost. I wonder if the 29 would have won again due to its winning streak?
In 2002 1st place was awarded to another NC29 rider. The one and only Richard 'milkie' Quayle. (Youtube him)
In 2003 one rider changed the 1st place luck of the 29, it was John Mcguinness on a RVF who was at the front of the whole race but Richard Britton on an NC29 did achieve 2nd place seconds behind him.
In 2004 that dasterdly John Mcguinness struck again with 1st place, with Mark Parrett on an NC29 achieving 3rd place.
Sadly after this year 600cc replaced the 400 class.
So three 1st place finishes, not bad..

This was a seriously trick nc29 by Japanese race team honeybee. I believe a guy in Japan now owners it

Over 200bhp per ltr......that's 80 odd bhp from an nc29. Anyone know how they got that??
