NC-29 Float bowl gasket

Post by LUGNUT » Tue Jun 15, 2021 6:31 pm

Do all NC-29's have the same float bowl? I've ordered two cheapo float bowl gasket sets from china and they are too big! They have the right approximate shape, but are just too big to fit the grove and stay in.

is it not a case it they need holding in place with a dab of grease or are they way too big for that?

Yep, even put in freezer hoping they would shrink a bit…

In which way too big? Do you mean the gasket is too thick or is the actual footprint to large?

Footprint too big, can’t get it to stay in groove.

Not ideal but you could try snipping a bit out and glueing it back together. O ring kits just use normal superglue.

The Chinese kits are notoriously crap and inaccurate. cutting and gluing the o-rings is a bad idea - superglue disolves with hot water so imagine what petrol would do to it......

Although these kits are made in Thailand, Blair is a member of the forum and they fit really well. I've rebuilt at least 20 sets of carbs using these and never had a problem

You can also get these through Graeme France if you're in a hurry.

Fair enough. I've never actually used a splice and dice o-ring on anything fuel related. It was just a thought.

I have used these on my bike. Fit perfect. Tyga also has them if you need to ship for a very reasonable price. And yes ai had the same exact problem with the gaskets on ebay. Pretty crude but the gaskets above are blue in color (unless something changed). The chinese ones I got are black. Call me a gasket profiler, but given the lack of other info to work off with ebay listings, that has been an identifier for the ones that fit in my experience.
