Just had a ton of pics through from GF. Looks like all oil seals have been done. New rad's on and undertray. It seems there's a cracked rear indicator case but fortunately I have several NOS ones. Lower yoke resprayed and fan casing tarted up. Gear lever seal leak has also been sorted. Forks are currently stripped and awaiting rebuild with GF springs. New steering head bearings fitted. It's getting there.

Right, the sun is shining, the roads are fairly dry so the NC29 is taking it's last ride of 2021.

Bike all sorted. Just been on the blower to GF. He's sent the usual array of pics showing all the work he's done, and a list of all the issues he found. I won't go through them (unless anyone's interested) but there were a fair few. Good thing his labour charges are so reasonable. He was impressed with the undertray. Dan the Van Man will bring the bike back some time after Christmas.

Do all the valve stem oil seals need replacing or just on cylinder 3?
I think he ment the seals/gaskets under the valve cover that seal the sparkplug holes..

Ok, you asked..
New OEM cam cover seals. OEM cam cover bolts + seals. 4 plugs. Water pump and gear change cover gasket/seals replaced. Water pump reconditioned with new OEM cover. New gear change cover + replacement dowels. Radiator hose clips replaced. New oil filter, oil, antifreeze. Pattern lower rad + recon lower bracket. Recon fan surround. Undertray fitted + new rubber guard. Fuse box fixings replaced with OEM (it was held in with wood screws!). Fork leg cartridge bolts replaced. Headstock bearings replaced with taper rollers. All seals replaced inc dust seals. Lower yoke resprayed. GF fork upgrade kit. Fork oil. Fork top adjuster repaired. OEM fork bushes.
Plus a lot of stripping and cleaning of bits. He's also sending one of his single-sided paddock stands (a lot quicker than my Abba). 18 hours labour.
So there you go. I wanted everything doing that needed doing.

That's probably my last contact with GF, which is a great shame. I thanked him for all he'd done over the years to keep my bikes on the road and wished him a long and happy retirement.

Well the bike is home. The radiator's looking very smart, as is the bottom yoke now that it's free of rusty crud. In case anyone is interested (cbr400rrn) this is the starting procedure he gave me.
The bike should be upright (paddock stand or sit on it). Fuel on (obviously, but otherwise the tap should be 'off' when not being used). Ignition on. Three-quarter choke. Press starter. NO THROTTLE. Leave to warm up for at least 5 minutes, gradually easing off the choke.
The bike is running fine. Still got to replace bodywork. Then it's down to the garage for a tank of E5 and off to the MOT man. Then I can check out the new and improved front suspension.

I quite agree! I gave up long ago trying to put pics on this forum. It works on other forums but not this one. There have been the occasional well-intentioned attempts by others to explain the procedure but my MacBook just doesn't want to know. I'm not the only one with this issue. It's a shame but there you go.
