Vfr 400 possible fuel starvation

Post by Jaq213 » Mon Apr 23, 2018 3:56 pm

Hi all,
My vfr 400 has started to give what I think is fuel starvation at 5500rpm. Just backs off. Idles fine and goes fine till that threshold . Any ideas?

Will it just not rev past 5500ish at any time, i.e in neutral as well? Assuming an NC30 and assuming the speed restriction hasn't already been bypassed, check that the 3 pin connector from the back of the speedo is connected properly. If this is disconnected altogether the bike just won't rev past 5k from memory.

^^ what he said :)

Welcome to the site.

Have a search for 5500rpm or 5.5k and you will find oodles of data - the bottom line is that if the bike CDI cannot "see" the speedo then it cuts 2 cyls.

Easy fix and we've all been there!

The detector electronics in the speedo could be faulty. As already suggested, disconnect the 3 pin connector from the speedo and apply the bypass to the loom side. The document library on the home page has instructions.
