CBR400R Engine in CBR400RR

Hi all,
About 6 months ago the engine in my NC23 400RR gave up the ghost and snapped a con rod while commuting home. Didn't make for a good day.
None the less I have been on the hunt for a replacement for many months finding absolutely nothing available here in New Zealand. Some months later the Honda dealer I'd broken to gave me a ring and said he knew a guy who had an old NC23 and could get the entire bike. Bike hadn't moved in years, had lived outside and certainly seen better days, they could get it turning over and all looked ok inside but couldn't get it to run as the carbs were ruined. Regardless this being the case sold me the entire thing for $800.
On picking this up some weeks later (as it had to be delivered to the dealer from down south) I discovered it was a NC23 400R, not a 400RR. None the less I took it home and after a few weeks of it being stuck in the back of the garage I got to work.
I've thus far taken all the best fits of my engine to fit the 400R and tidy everything up, however I have discovered a few possible issues:
1). Gearbox splines are completely different, need to use the 400R sprocket and mounting as the 400RR part won't fit
2). The 400RR speedo reads from the sprocket drive, the 400R reading from the front hub. Anybody aware of any way I can get a functioning speedo without having to strip the gearboxes and swap internals etc?
3). The 400R has an oil cooler mounted beneath the blocks, the RR does not, nor does it have the brackets for this. To resolve the feeds for this I put the RR sump on the R engine but do wonder how this will affect long term
4). The 400R rocker cover appears significantly different as do the fluid reservoirs
I'm yet to offer the new engine up to the 400RR frame but am beginning to have significantly concerns about fitment etc. Do we know if anybody has tried such a conversion before or am I likely stuffed?
Cheers!
