Hi,

Just finished a long back and forth with an overseas accessories dealer over the year of my Cb400SF. It's got the 2001 frame number, manufacturer then insists my motorcycle front wheel is from a 2000 for some reason - any way I can check this?

cheers

Honda wheels often have the year of manufacture cast inside of the spokes. This is definitely the case for bikes from the late 80s/early 90s, I'm not certain about newer stuff though.

According to the Honda parts book, the front brake discs were the same part number from 2001-03. Earlier years were different, possibly later years, too (my parts book only covers 1999-2003).

Ciao,

Look for a small, raised disc area on one of the spokes. On my VTR1000 SP1 wheel, for example, there is a raised "99" on one of these little discs. All of the other ENKEI Honda wheels I checked have these--look on the RHS.

I don't know for sure what the significance of each of these casting marks is, but the "03" one would correspond with the known year of the bike. Can you find one just like it on the rear wheel? If an "03" or "02", that would suggest that you were looking at the year of manufacture of the wheel. Show them the second picture (only!) and see what they say now...
