RVF Carbs split down
Hi all. I've just split down my carbs to swap one of the bodies out. Whilst I've got everything apart are there any recommended mods I can do? Is there anything else you can recommend in terms of good practice for servicing them? So far as I know everything is currently bog standard off an M reg RVF.
Thanks for any info.

Re: RVF Carbs split down
Here's a shot of my exhausts - not very stock! So I'm guessing that I ought to have some slightly larger main jets instead of the stick 108's. The intake system is stock and I've no plans to change it.
Any recommendations on what jet size might be best to go for? Can anyone also recommend a good source for some new jets if they're needed?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: RVF Carbs split down
After scanning the web a bit it looks like some people suggest fitting an extra washer under the needle. I have a spare set of carbs, so I could do this on the stock jets...what do you think?
Grateful for any advice...

Re: RVF Carbs split down
Trial and error.. its easy enough to take out..
question would be did you notice any problems before?
washer is common to nc30 carbs too in order to richen up the mid-range transition.
Some of the Japanese exhausts were designed with standard jetting in mind so 108s might be fine for the bike, especially with stock airbox etc.
Dyno would be good if you want to get it really dialed in but if I were you i'd get it rebuilt and do a ride, see how it feels
If you have split the carb bodies make sure all the o-rings that seal the link pipes are in good condition :)

Re: RVF Carbs split down
Hi Neo, thanks for the reply. I managed, just, to get the carbs back together and was a little concerned how the O rings might do. I'll find out shortly!
Measuring the float height was hard on the eyes.
I haven't fitted the top plate yet, so it won't all be perfectly aligned but I was a little concerned that the head of one of the balancing bolts was touching the main cross bar when fully turning the throttle wheel.
I'll go for an extra washer on the needles to see how it goes.
My other concern was a couple of the float valves not appearing as free as the others. I had a go at them, but they might need changing.

Anyone know where to source all the carb gaskets and O rings from? Cheers.
