Had 5 mins so made some (don't know what to call the?) Engine mount adjusters???? And lock nuts, hoping to make the swing arm one in titanium when i get another 5 minsImage

Well i had another 5mins so made the one for the swing arm. I made it in ally istead of titanium i thought it need to be strong but it does'nt really.Image

Made the suspension linkage bolts in titanium with aluminium nuts. Unfortunatly i did'nt have time to thread the last bolt but you get the idea.Image

Great work. What lathe/machines are you running? I'd like to see some pictures of the parts been made if you have any.
I'm just getting in to machined myself.

I just do it after hours at work so only a Holbrook lathe and a Bridgeport mill. And very occasionally the cnc machine with some bribery.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose aluminium nuts to go with the titanium bolts?
I would have thought that for something as important as the suspension linkage you'd opt for something stronger, such as steel or titanium?

The reason for not using titanium nuts is they don't work very well with Ti bolts. You need 2 gallons of copper slip and they still don't really do up tight tight. After spending the time and effort making Ti bolts i was not going to put a steel nut on them and besides some things screw into the aluminium frame which is cheese in comparrison to a peice of 7075 aluminium. The nuts dont do anything anyway they just stop the bollt falling out all of the force is sheer force on the bolt.

Is that a rotating centre That's been ground,
If so how do you stop it rotating.

No it is just a dead center (does'nt spin) and is ground away to clear the tool.
