Can someone measure an nc30 piston pin please?

Post by Yakama » Wed May 04, 2016 8:26 pm

I'm wanting to know if they are the same length and width as those used in the rvf400 and later cbr400 Pistons. Thanks

I can when I get home. When you say width and length - do you mean diameter and height?

Height/skirt is definitely different but the bore should be the same:

Ah ok so that's a few mil longer than the nc29 pin, I was hoping it would be a fewmil shorter.

Reason is I got these moriwaki Pistons in with some parts a while back, I was told they are for the cbx400 but they definitely aren't! I have the parts manual and they are the wrong part no. I think they are either nc30 or cbr400 but they have slightly deeper valve pockets and the pin height is different

They didn't come with piston pins, so I wonder if I could get the nc29 ones shortened to fit??

Yep - the NC30 pin is longer than the NC35

Not a good pic for measurements but you can see the two here:

L- NC35, R- NC30

Should be a easy thing to machine though

Mystery solved. It seems these are moriwaki f3 race pistons for the nc21
