I think the time has come for the dreaded Collector removal.
I heard the tell tail sounds a few months back and got some repair paste as a temporary fix but before next MOT I know I'll have to drop the engine to gst proper access to exhaust system and either weld repair or get a new part.

Big questions is best way to remove NC24 engine. There used to be a step by step guide on the Internet that I seen a few years back at this address:

but now that I need it the website has expired

Does anyone know if this info is available elsewhere or if anyone else has put up a step by step guide to this

Its not that difficult. In a nutshell drain the water, disconnect everything and unbolt the engne.

If you are replacing it with a new one like the SS one DSS sells then you can get the rear shock out, hack the old one off and the new one has removable rear headers so you can put it in without take the exhaust off.

ALthough I'd like the shortcut method, can't afford one of those with removable headers right now, so will have to do the engine out and repair /replace. Don't mind doing this, think I'll enjoy the challenge, I'm just very slow, so will need to take it off the road for a few days

Resurrecting an old thread, as I've discovered there are backups of the old website David mentioned. For completeness here are the contents of the engine removal menu
Engine Removal
Tips before you start
1. Remove fairing panels
2. Check for stuck engine mounting bolts
3. Remove petrol tank
4. Remove end can
5. Remove front downpipes
6. Drain engine oil
7. Drain cooling system
8. Disconnect oil cooler pipes
9. Remove radiator
10. Remove airbox
11. Remove front ignition coils
12. Remove carburettors
13. Remove thermostat housing
14. Disconnect gear lever linkage
15. Disconnect clutch cable
16. Disconnect rear HT leads and other wires
17. Remove front sprocket and chain
18. Support the engine with a jack
19. Undo the engine mounting bolts
20. Lower engine gently
21. Raise bike and free engine

Useful link Julian I followed the procedure on the original site when I first got my NC24- saved me a lot of time. There was also a good walkthrough on parts required for NC21 hydraulic clutch conversion. Alan
