Fairy snuff. A slow amble may free things up but I'd want to know the condition of the friction plates personally. Depending on how long it's stood, and the possibility of any moisture having gotten in, I'd want to make sure I wasn't having to strip it down in a couple of months after its MOT'd.

Well I suspect you're right about the friction plates as with it in gear on a paddock stand it stalls when back brake is put on 🙄
Haven't ever done a clutch before, time to learn......

Best thing to do is to photograph every stage of the disassembly. That way you can't go wrong when you put it back together. You could go totally anal and mark all the friction plates and spacers sequentially but it tends to be just the first and last of each that have a specific position in the basket, the middle ones are all identical.

Awesome! I'm also a new member. This site is great. I'm in the U.S. and lucked into an NC23. The Facebook groups are fine, but documenting builds is far better on a forum. Most of those groups are people asking questions or selling parts. I do wish this site was more active, but I think it's pretty great as it is.
