Re: NC35 replacement decals
Back when all the greys were imported they crammed them in containers which usually resulted in paint damage so most were repainted on arrival usually is schemes they deemed were popular hence why you get batches of bikes with the same scheme, it's the same here in the uk.

Re: NC35 replacement decals
Were NC35s ever officially imported into Australia?
I don't have an Australia-specific Parts Catalogue, just the Japanese one. That said, AFAK, the paint scheme in question first appeared on a 2000 model bike, and the NC35 hasn't been manufactured since the 1996 model year. It would be strange indeed for the paint scheme to have first appeared on an Oz-only edition of an NC35 onlt to re-appear on the 2000 VTR1000 SP-1...

Re: NC35 replacement decals
As others have said, it is likely to have been done in a batch by a local importer - we had similar here in the UK with all sorts of scheme's that were popular at the time of painting
if the plastics are genuine, get the part numbers off the panel and google it, i bet it comes back to one of the only 2 scheme's they came in from the factory.
We see this question quite often, does anyone remember the ultra rare stars edition UK nc30 lol ?

That chap was an utter twit, wasn't he? I just wish I'd saved the pics and conversation for posterity.
