vfr 400 luggage touring

Post by phil x » Mon Apr 18, 2011 10:51 pm

I have the opportunity to take the NC30 to a music festival in Northern France in July.

Now I'm no stranger to touring/camping abroad by bike.
But
I'm after nuggets of information for loading the NC like a packhorse, securely & without damaging the paint.
I need to take clothing for a long weekend & camping/cooking equipment plus waterproofs etc.

Cheers all, Phil

I think Ventura makes a pack system for this bike. I have it for my Fireblade and I think they are awesome.

Cheers for the replies - looks like a good option if my cunning plan doesn't work out ;)

With a little modification (shortening possibly and re-drilling mounts, plus making up some brackets), Givi rails can be made to fit ANY bike if that helps?
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

When I've been away for a camping weekend I've managed to get everything into a pair of Oxford Sport throwover panniers and my Kriega R35 and tail pack. The Oxfords are soft enough not to damage the paintwork although one fo them suffered a bit when it dropped onto the exhaust once.

Sorry, know it's an older post but I can second the Ventura pack. Use one daily for work and it's perfect for throwing bits into, and have taken it on camping weekends many times. Plus the rack on the back of the frame can be used to bungee the tent, sleeping bag and all other, larger items onto. Perfect!

Surely there is some peole on here could make a luggage rack system similar to the design of other racks on the Market ....
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....
